Lorna, Grace and Emilys fundraising in Memory of Jared

Story

My friends Grace and Emily and I are competing in the National Coal Carry Championship on Monday 18th April in memory of Jared Exley.

On the 24th August 2021 Jared passed away after suffering a seizure in his sleep - just a week before his 21st birthday. SUDEP (Sudden Death In Epilepsy) tragically took Jared’s life and his absence has left a huge hole in the lives of family and friends that can never be replaced. Jared’s family and friends have since set up a fundraising page to raise money for epilepsy research in his memory.

The current fundraising total is just over £14,000 and Jared’s mum Jane is determined to reach the next goal of £15,000. Hopefully by taking part in the race in honour of Jared we can help to smash this next goal whilst raising vital awareness for Epilepsy Research and SUDEP.

Emily has completed the youth race before of 15kg however despite watching the race for many years, on one occasion with Jared, me and grace have never had the guts to compete, as carrying a 20kg sack of coal for 1km has always seemed pretty daunting. In saying that we are ready to take on the challenge and hope that you can not only support us but kindly donate in memory of Jared.

All funds raised will go straight to SUDEP Action and Epilepsy Research UK.
